"welcome home baby sissy!"

Since Khloe was doing so well it the hospital, the doctor gave her a clean bill of health right away and said we could take her home as soon as someone could drive her there! I was recovering quite well myself, so my doctor let me go home a day earlier than when I was in with Colton. We were excited to get home on Friday. It did seem like a force didn't want us to go home. Transportation at the hospital took a good 30 minutes to come get us and wheel me down to the car. Then we thought it'd be a good idea to fill my prescription before we went home ... just in case something happened, and I needed my next dose before we got back to Tampa. Walgreens took another 30 minutes (or more) to fill my two simple prescriptions. Once we headed home, traffic slowed for the first hour of the drive, so it took us more like 3 hours to get home instead of the hour and a half it usually takes.

We walked into the house around 8:30 p.m., and Colton was thrilled to see us. He did WONDERFULLY with my Mom, but he was missing us, too (we could tell). Plus, he--somehow very inconveniently--contracted pink eye on Thursday in both eyes! My Mom took him to the doctor to get medicine on Friday, so he's on his way to recovery ... but he can't "meet" Khloe and hold her and kiss her until his contagious spell passes ... which could be as early as tomorrow morning or as late as tomorrow night/Monday morning. We'll have to see. I feel so badly, because he really wants me to pick him up and love on him ... but I can't for two reasons. First, my stomach has recently been cut in half, and I can't pick him up. Even if he is placed on my lap, he's pretty heavy on my incision right now. It may take the rest of this week for that to calm down enough so that he can sit on my lap comfortably (and it will take 6 weeks before I can pick him up). Second, he has pink eye, and I take care of Khloe the most ... so I can't risk getting pink eye myself or getting it on me and passing it to Khloe. I can see that it hurts him, and he really wants me to love on him. So, we layered some blankets on me, and I held him a bit today. I just want to take care of him, and I think he's not so sure why I'm being so distant. I feel terrible!

Today, we are just taking it easy. I had a hard time finding a comfortable place last night. The bed just isn't going to work. We took the box spring off of the bed and put the mattress on only ... but it's too low and too soft. I get down, but I can't get back up. Also, it's awkward positioning for me. I need to be sitting up/lounging. I can't really lay down yet. I headed out to the couch in the middle of the night and that worked much better! I should've known. That's where I slept for two weeks after I had Colton. I don't know if I nee two weeks of the couch, but at least this first week for sure. It's just easier to get up and down off of ... and it's at a better height.

It has been so great having my Mom here! She has been really helpful with Khloe even these past 12 hours. It's, also, great to have her caring for Colton. He LOVES her so much, and she takes great care of him. It's good, because Billy is still recovering his sleep ... and I am basically useless to care for him right now. She is feeding him, changing him, playing with him, giving him his eye medicine, etc. It's a true blessing to have your Mother around!

I wanted to post a bunch of pictures in the hospital of Khloe, but right when I finished my last blog ... our computer basically died! So, I couldn't upload them. My Mom is lending me her computer now, so I can quickly get some posted. Enjoy the pictures on this blog, and the blog to come. It's her first photo shoot!
This is my attempt at using castor oil to induce labor ... bad idea from the get-go!
A familiar place .. the Florida Hospital Altamonte Baby Place! Ready to have Khloe (on false alarm day ... on the real day, this smile was wiped from my face at this point!)
I had to have oxygen on because her heartbeat dropped into the 80s for several minutes. This is just before we went in for a c-section ... dilated to a 6 already!
Billy did a great job at capturing her being born ... well, minus the actual c-section drama and the blood stuff.
First few pictures of her laying so nicely waiting to be held by Daddy & Mommy.
Getting her foot prints done on her birth announcement from the hospital.
With Dr. Sweet--the man who took care of her and Mommy for nine months (aside from Daddy, of course).
First "family photo" minus Colton.
Hanging out in the recovery room.
Daddy changes Khloe's first diaper! It's a poopy, too.
Daddy helped give Khloe her first bath while Mommy rested in the recovery room.
Daddy's former job associates (Administration at FH Altamonte) gave these to Khloe ... a bear with a balloon and a beautiful flower arrangement. The roses even have diamond jewels in the center.
Daddy brought Mommy (and Khloe) a dozen red roses with a sweet card. He's such a good Daddy & husband.
First visitors were friends ... Gina & Greg Creek, but we forgot to take a picture with them. Whooops! Next, came Aunt Brenda and Uncle Gerson. Thanks for the yummy dinner from Olive Garden. Also, thank you to Daddy's family for the flowers. Such pretty pink colors for Khloe!

Soon Mommy & Daddy's friends, Mellie, Dave, and Mei Mei, came to visit. They brought a sweet little elephant blanket for Khloe. Sweet Mei Mei said, "baby, baby" over and over. What a doll!
Mommy's friend, Alma and her husband Mark, came to visit, too! They brought books and a generous gift that we used toward a glider for Khloe's room.

Daddy's cousins, Caleb and Elizabeth, were our last visitors of the night. It was so nice to see everyone!
Another shot of our little family (sadly minus Colton who was at home with Grandma Bourland in Tampa).
Khloe on the day we went home. This is her "coming home" outfit. She looked so cute!
Headed home to Tampa ... a picture on the way out of the hospital. LOVE the Florida Hospital Altamonte's Baby Place!
Khloe on her first ride in the car. On the way home to Tampa ... first of many car seat photos!
Arrived home ... this is as close as Colton could get, because of his pink eye.
Daddy, Mommy, and Khloe in her new room!
Daddy and Khloe in her room for the first time.
Mommy with Khloe in her room for the first time.
Grandma Bourland holds her second granddaughter and third grandchild for the first time.

We have been blessed to have her home all weekend. Billy has to go to Orlando for a couple of days for a meeting, but I'm thankful my Mom will still be here. Hopefully, he can take a couple of more days with me ... and hopefully soon, I will start to feel better and better. We're blessed to have our family together ... all four of us!

  1. Girl, I'm so sorry to hear about Colton's pink eye. That's terrible. And I'm sure it's heartbreaking not to be able to pick him up and not be able to help him understand why. Give our love to Colton. I keep meaning to tell you that Khloe's room looks great with the pink walls. So glad you made it home safely...even though it took forever. Hope you're having a smooth transition. I've been checking regularly to see how the first "meeting" of the siblings went and how you're settling in. I'll keep checking! Miss you all and visit as soon as you can!
