Hello, Fall! We've missed you!

We are going to jump ahead a bit ... I feel like October was a flash in the pan. I wanted to sit down so many times to write about what we have been up to, but when I did sit down ... usually sleep followed quickly thereafter. I would like to do a catch-up blog, but I am too anxious to write about our annual fall trip. So, I decided that I would write about our vacation ... then I will write a short update blog chalk full of pics of what we were up to in October.

We just got back from our annual Heinrich/Adams Fall Trip to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN. We had another fabulous fall time up north, and it was full of fun and friends.
Here we all are! The only picture we got all trip of the whole gang!
These adorable babies!
I just love this photo.
On Friday night, we packed up the car, and we left at 1:30 a.m. to drive the 8 1/2 hours to Chattanooga. When we got there, we stopped for a quick bite of breakfast then we headed over to the Children's Museum downtown. The kids had a blast running through there. I think it was a nice break from sitting in the car ... I know I enjoyed the stretch for my legs.
Enjoying our cold weather.
Just stopping in Chattanooga for a break in our drive. This girl is the happiest!

Just before lunchtime, we headed out of Chattanooga towards Pigeon Forge. We were going to meet our friends, the Adams, at the office to pick up our cabin codes. When we reached the top of the mountain in Sevierville, there was snow everywhere! We wanted cooler weather ... we were hoping, however, for fall leaves and crisp air ... not snow and frigid temps! Luckily, the snow was pretty much isolated to the tops of the mountains. Down in the valleys, fall was ready for us to take over for a week.
Snow when we arrived!
We are so excited in this pic for a fun week ahead!
We have arrived in fall!
A gorgeous fireplace.
That night, we hung out in the cabin, turned on the fireplace, played games, and enjoyed being on vacation.

FALL!

On Sunday, we wanted to try something new, so we decided to go on the Smokey Mountain Alpine Coaster. It was super fun! Khloe rode with me, and Colton rode with Billy (Alice stayed at the bottom of the mountain with Brian). They trek you up to the top of the mountain on rails ... like going up on a real roller coaster. Then when you get to the top, they release you ... you control your speed. Khloe wanted to go "fast like a cheetah"! The track runs winding through the trees as you coast all of the way down to the bottom. It was really awesome!
This girl rode with Mommy, and Colton rode with Daddy.
Heading to the top of the mountain.
After that, we headed to an exotic farm where you can feed unusual animals ... camels, zebras, emus, kangaroos, zonkeys (zebra and donkey mixed) ... and regular animals like goats, deer, reindeer, and horses. The kids really liked feeding the animals, and they had fun seeing all of the different kinds. Khloe liked the camel the best, and Colton liked the goats.

Kok really liked the big camel!

We grabbed some lunch afterwards then headed to a Lumberjack show. It was pretty cool to see the lumberjacks racing to chop wood, climb up tall logs, log roll, etc. The kids were captivated, and there were even dogs in the show. By the time we got to the cabin that night, the kids were wiped out!

On Monday, we had breakfast at our favorite locale--The Pancake Pantry. We all enjoyed a delightful breakfast! Then we headed to Ober Gatlinburg. We rode the aerial tramway up the mountain, and we played up in the lodge for a while. The kids loved the arcade and riding the "sara-kel" (as Khloe calls the carousel). After that, we headed for Kilwin's for some caramel apples before going back to the cabin for rest time ... well, the guys did with the kids. Gwendy and I went shopping at the outlet mall for several hours of fun! We ended our night playing board games.
Loving the Pancake Pantry!
She got another tooth just in time to enjoy pancakes for the first time ... only the best for Allie!

On Tuesday, we had another enjoyable breakfast at The Pancake Pantry. We decided to burn off our calories by hiking around in the woods and driving along Cades Cove. There was a lot to see on that scenic roadway, and we enjoyed stopping at several old cabins and buildings. The trees were beautiful, and the drive was nice. That evening, we raced go-karts with the kids. They had a blast! The parents enjoyed another fun evening of board and card games.
This crew ... my heart.
I love these kiddos!

Unfortunately, we had to leave on Wednesday morning ... the trip always goes so quickly! I wish it could've last the whole week. We stopped at Kilwin's on the way out for one more caramel apple. Then we drove the scenic route back toward Atlanta. We saw some snow on our drive, so we stopped for a little snowball fight! We had a great time in Tennessee with our friends, and we are all looking forward to our trip next fall! #heinrichadamsfalltrip2014
That face is love!
A lot has changed in one year!
Goodbye Fall ... it was a fun trip!
