bee hors d'oeuvres, por favor

This was a busy week for us.  We went to the water park on Monday.  Colton could live there!  Khloe gets sick of only sitting in the pool now, so she wants to crawl around.  Since there's a gradual decline into the water there, it's perfect for her to crawl around on her tummy.  I let her do that a little bit ... when I noticed she was chewing on something.  Some of the trees have recently lost their flower buds ... while a few mulch pieces sometimes find their way into the pool area, as well.  I thought she must have one of those in her mouth--potentially a leaf, even.  I picked her up and fought her to get my finger into her mouth.  I did a general swipe through ... and came out holding a dead bee!  That's right, Khloe found a dead bee and decided to have it for lunch.  I don't think she really cares what it is ... if it's in her reach, and she can pick it up ... it goes in to her mouth.  I'm so happy I discovered her chewing on the dead bee and not a diaper with a dead bee in it!  Yuck!
Prior to the dead bee incident.

Khloe enjoying her time in the pool.  Splashing away!

Colton does this all of the time at the water park.  It's his favorite past time!

We did the water park again on Tuesday.  It's been so hot here that we are there most of the time.  On Wednesday, I thought my MOMs Club was going to the zoo. (I obviously did not completely read the calendar for this week.) I showed up to the zoo to find out zoo day was today (Friday).  So, we walked around for about an hour.  Colton got to see a ton of animals.  Even the tigers were out sunning themselves.  Luckily, it was kind of a cloudy day, so it wasn't too hot.
Our first zoo trip this week.  We were watching the monkies here.
We were watching the rhinos chase each other here.  They were racing around and playing and chasing.  Colton thought it was pretty cool!
Thursday was Khloe's 9 month birthday!  Happy nine months, Khloe! She went to the doctor that day, too.  Here are her stats.
June 21, 2012--Nine Months Old
I thought this one was funny ... how does she do that!?!
Weight: 19 lbs. 3 oz.
Height: ?
She lost weight over the past three months.  I talked with the doctor about this ... it's very unusual considering her pattern thus far.  She said that because she is a lot more mobile, she will need more to drink at each meal.  She recommended I feed her at least 24 oz. per day ... more if she seems like she wants more.  She said that the more mobile she gets, the more she will burn off ... so she may seem hungrier.  Her height ... is a question mark, because the nurse measured her incorrectly.  She had her losing height from her last appointment.  The doctor said that it wasn't right, and she wanted to remeasure her ... but we all forgot to do it.  Billy and I will measure her this weekend and let you all know.  I have a book that tells me the percentages, so I can list that, too.  She got zero shots.  So, it was a pretty basic appointment.  All is well ... she can wave, pull up on furniture, say "hi" "da da" and "ma ma", scoot all around the house, and she understands simple commands.  She knows when I say "no" or "don't touch".  She will give me a very mischievious look ... and then smile.  She knows what's going on!  If I say, "Wave Khloe."  She will wave.  I know that she is starting to understand some commands.
Khloe at her 9 month doctor's appointment.  She is clapping her hands ... a new trick she has learned.
Smiles and giggles at the doctor.

Khloe passing the time waiting for the doctor to show up to check her out.  I thought it was cute!

It has been pretty rainy around here lately.  It rains nearly every afternoon.  The weird thing is that it has been raining every afternoon, but it continues into the night.  It may even rain all night long!  Usually, it will rain in the afternoon, but it will clear up by the evening.  Billy and I missed two days of running this week.  I hope it's not this rainy next week!

Speaking of rain, on Thursday, I took the kids to the water park again.  It looked like it was going to rain, but we needed to get some fresh air and exercise.  We were there for over an hour before it started to rain ... then it started to pour!  It didn't feel like it was going to lighten up, so I put a towel over the kids in their stroller, and I walked them home.  Colton had fun playing at the water park a little bit while it rained.  He thought that was pretty cool!  I didn't want Khloe in the rain ... she's still a bit small to be playing around in the cold rain.  They took a good nap when we got home.  I love naps in the rain ... the kids always sleep so well.
Colton enjoying the water park in the rain ... trying to catch some in his mouth.
Today, we went to the zoo again!  It was fun, but it was so hot.  Colton rode the carousel.  He got on it and immediately wanted down.  I held on to him and convinced him to ride.  He asked for it to go slowly the whole time.  I told him it was going slowly!  Once the ride finished, he looked at me and said, "That was FUN!"  Yeah, right!  After we went and saw a ton of animals, we took the kids to the splash zone.  Colton had a blast running through the fountains with his friends, but I would not make a speical trip to the zoo just for the splash park.
Watching the penguins at the zoo today with his friend Tanner.
After we got home, Colton and Khloe took a nap.  Here's how I found Colton when I went to wake him up.
Isn't he so cute?
Billy worked late a lot this week.  He didn't come home most nights until around 8 p.m. or later.  One night, I thought it would be fun to have a jammie party.  Here are the kids ... looking exactly alike ... having their jammie time party.
Don't they look exactly alike?
On the plus side, we got our XBox fixed this week.  They tried to make me pay $75 more than they quoted, but I did not let them push me on that.  They never called to tell me that they needed to order a part that was an extra $75.  They should have asked me if I wanted that done ... not just fixed it and charge me more.  I might have said forget it!  So, they backed off on making me pay that.  I'm just happy to have an XBox that works again.  We can rent movies again!  Billy forgot last week and rented something ... only we had nothing to watch it on.  Ha, ha!

As I said in my last blog, I made Billy a Father's Day blackberry pie.  Here it is!
I had one piece ... the rest was eaten by Billy.  It was pretty tasty!
One night this week, Colton wanted to use his new chair while he played puzzles on the iPad.  He was pretty excited to use this chair.  I have been working on the kids' table and chairs, and they are almost completed.  He wanted to check it out.  I think he felt like a big boy in his own chair.

Here are some Colton funnies from this week:

Billy asked Colton to spell his name this week.  He said, "C-O-L-T-O-N!"  Then he asked, "Can you spell my name?" Colton thought for a minute and said, "B-O-L-T-O-N!" Ha, ha!  Then he asked him to spell mommy's name.  He spelled my name, "T-O-L-T-O-N!" And he asked Colton to spell Khloe's name ... he said, "K-O-L-T-O-N!" What a funny guy!

Colton watches DUMBO a lot when we drive in the car.  He loves to watch the elephant!  One day while he was playing with his monster truck he was singing, "When I see a monster truck fly!" The song from DUMBO goes ... "When I see an elephant fly!" I thought it was cute that he changed the lyrics.

If Colton wants to tattle on Khloe.  He will say, "What's Khloe doing?" Whenever he sees her doing something he knows she's not supposed to do ... he comes to me and asks that question!

One afternoon, I told Colton, "Cole, you are the cutest boy, aren't you?"  He said, "No, I'm HANDSOME!" :)

happy father's day

Three in two days!  I am on a roll with my blogging!  Don't expect this to last. (Until we get that new computer ... which could be soon--because they finally released the new MacBook Pros!) Though, it has been nice being able to do a couple of short blogs instead of three huge blogs.

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful Daddy, my husband, Billy, my step-dad, Michael, and my father-in-law, Keith!  What a wonderful father's day it has been here at the Heinrich house.

On Friday, the kids decorated an ice cream cake for Billy at Bruster's.  It's a mint chocolate chip ice cream cake.  It's yummy!  Colton had a great time ... mostly with the sprinkles.  He wanted to add a lot of sprinkles--unfortunately, that's Billy's least favorite decor item!  He did add some mini M&Ms and colored whipped cream, as well.  It was a neat experience, and it was super fun!
Let the decorating commence!
Colton decorating the cake ... adding some M&Ms.
Of course, it needs sprinkles!
All done!!! Happy Father's Day, Dad!
The finished product! I think it needs more sprinkles. :)
Ready to take home to Daddy!
Cheese!  They gave the cake to Dad, and they are ready to try some!
Yummy!
Daddy with the cake.
Colton took it upon himself to let Khloe have a taste. At least he shares!
Today, Colton, Khloe, and I started out by bringing Daddy some orange juice, donuts, and a fun gift for breakfast.  Colton picked out the bag and card all by himself.  The card is a recordable one ... he sounds very cute saying, "Happy Father's Day, Daddy!  I love you!" The kids got Daddy three bags of gummies: sour worms (his favorite), peachie-O's, and gummie bears.  Colton had fun sharing them, too.  They, also, got Daddy an Under Armour shirt ... "cold block" ... which is designed to block the sun and keep him cooler.  It's red ... he likes it.  I made eggs and prosage to counter balance the donuts.
Colton picked this bag out especially for Dad.
Getting ready to take Daddy his gift!
The kids with Daddy--gift time!
Got a few giggles.
Dad's new Under Armour shirt.
He's booty of gummies!
Colton might share with Dad!
Khloe prefers the bag to all gifts and treats.
Breakfast!  Eggs, prosage, and a donut. :)
After breakfast, we played a little bit then Khloe took a nap ... after she woke up, we went to find some golf clubs for Daddy.  He ended up finding some Callaway irons.  He got the iron set and a bag!  Now, he just has to collect the drivers and the putter.  He'll be a pro soon!
Some quality father/son time ... playing puzzles on the iPad.
Dad's new golf clubs!
We washed both cars while the kids napped ... then we took a nap!  After that, we headed to the pool.  The kids love the pool!  The water was so warm, too.  Then we Skyped with Grandpa and Grandma Reynolds.
We had a fun Father's Day--and the best part is that tomorrow, Billy will have a homemade (hand picked berries by me) blackberry pie waiting for him when he gets home ... one last extended treat for Father's Day.  It's always fun to extend the party just a little bit!
The kids made this with Dad at Sabbath School.  Hand trace for Father's Day!  So cute!
I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband who is also a great father.  Colton has a fantastic role model and a caring Daddy to look up to.  Khloe will always feel loved and protected by her Dad, too.  It sure makes Father's Day special when you have a special guy to celebrate.
One of Billy's favorites!
And I am so very thankful for my own Daddy whom I look up to every day ... and whom I have looked up to for as long as I can remember. He is a very caring, kind and Godly man whom I am proud to call my Dad.
Me with my Daddy ... I love that we match!
Me and Dad on my wedding day
Colton and Khloe are super lucky to have such a great father and wonderful grandfathers (Grandpas Reynolds, Heinrich, and Bourland) in their lives.

Had to get one of Khloe in here!  Koki with Grandpa Reynolds (& curious, caring Toby).
Happy Father's Day!

Sabbath sunset on the beach

Indian Sands ... in Indian Rocks, FL
Family shot ... pretty good for a self-photo!
Group shot!
Last week when I drove to Pinellas Park to buy the double stroller, we had to drive over the bridge that takes us closer to the beaches.  Colton saw the ocean and begged to go to the beach.  So, we decided that we would go to the beach on Sabbath afternoon after naps.
Happy Father's Day weekend! Daddy with his two kiddos.
Loving the beach weather!
Billy enjoying the beach ...
Great sand!  Soft and white.
Just beautiful!
We headed down to Indian Rocks Beach (and ended up at Indian Sands), because I heard in my MOMs Club from a couple of moms that it was really nice there.  We thought it was pretty.  The water was really wonderful!  Clear ... calm ... and oh, so warm!
Beach girl ... hanging out on the beach chair.
The kiddies
Colton LOVED the water!  He ran right in ... splashed in the water ... went under a few times.  He was loving it.  When we went up to the chairs to grab some snacks, he immediately ran right back toward the water.  We had to convince him to build a sand castle first before we headed back to the water.
Running straight in to the water as soon as we arrive!
Running in ... squealing with delight!
Just enjoying the water.  He played and played in it!  He loved when the waves rolled by.
Splash!
Building his sand castle.
Coming in to the beach chairs for a little snack.
Just taking a small snack break. Mmmmmm peaches ...
Khloe was loving it, too.  I had her in the water with me, and she splashed and splashed ... she loved it when I had her on her tummy.  She kicked and kicked her feet while her arms went a mile a minute!  The water was so warm ... like a bath.  It was fun to sit out deeper with the family and enjoy the warm water and warm breeze.
It's hard for baby girl to smile with the sun in her eyes!
Sweet girl
Hanging out on the chair with Mommy.
She liked the beach, but she kept trying to eat fistfuls of sand ... silly girl!
Another beach chair moment
I love my girl.
xoxo
It was a fun, relaxing way to end the Sabbath.  When we left, we asked Colton if he had a fun time.  He said, "YEAH!  Can we go to the beach again?" We are definitely going to do that more often!
Beautiful water
Khloe tried some sand.
I couldn't help but take a million pictures of the scenery!  It was just so beautiful!
