mother's day ... pool bums ... "are you kidding me?"

This week started out with a great day--Mother's Day.  And let me tell you, I felt super special all day long.  Billy and the kids did such a great job making Mother's Day one that I will never forget.  Billy let me sleep in ... he took Colton to run some morning errands with him.  They got back and got Khloe up for me.  Then all three of them came to wake me up with iced coffee, treats, a magazine, and a gift.  It was really sweet of them!  Colton ran in saying, "Happy Mother's Day, Mommy!  Happy Mother's Day!"  That's all the gift I really needed.  I did, however, get a super wonderful necklace.  It's Maya Brenner, and I love it!  It's so dainty.  Billy made breakfast of egg pancakes.  We went to the park and on a walk ... then for supper, we went to a tasty little Mexican restaurant up the road, Los Vallartas.  It was delish!  I even got roses and a potted plant for my porch.  It was a great day!
There's a 'K' for Khloe and a 'C' for Colton ... obviously. ;)
My wake-up call ... the best ever!
My Mother's Day flowers!
We have been pool bums.  If the beach were any closer, we'd be beach bums, too.  Colton wants to go everyday, and we practically do.  It's a great way to get the wigglies out, and it's a great way to have fun on these HOT summer days.  Colton's newest trick is that he likes to jump into the "deep" end (and by deep, I mean one and a half feet).  He is getting pretty brave around the water.  He likes to lay down in the deepest part, and he likes to put his head under.  I am glad to see him losing some of his fears.  Today, he was standing on the raised section in the middle of the splash park, and he bent down at the edge for something.  He tipped over and fell into the pool face first ... smashing it on the bottom.  He cried, but he didn't seem scared--talked about it all afternoon even.  But he does have a little mark on his nose ... hopefully that will fade by next weekend for Cherrie's wedding! :)
Loving the pool!
Colton was having fun taking pictures.  He can see himself in the screen on the phone!
Fun times!
Khloe squinting at the sun.
I have found Khloe has begun to pull up on things.  She will try to pull up on the bottom ledge of the table, the side of her crib, the TV stand ledge ... the latter of those things, she was attempting at when she used the Xbox 360 for leverage.  It has a touchy button on the corner that opens when you barely swipe your hand near it.  It opened the DVD/game tray ... and she grabbed onto it--pulling it off track.  So, we are trying to figure out how to fix it.  I went to two different places this week.  One place was 35 minutes away, and it ended up being at some guy's house in a trailer park ... uh, no ... I kept driving.  So, I drove another 35 minutes south (in kind of a triangle), only to find that the store I was looking for was no longer in that store front. I guess they went out of business.  I was so tired of driving that I went home!  I called Best Buy, but they don't repair game consoles.  Anyway, we're looking into what to do.  Khloe, on the other hand, is still happily figuring out how to pull up on things.  She is quickly getting around where she needs to go ... and would much rather stand than sit or lay down.  This one is ready to take off!
Starting to pull up.
Khloe's first time in a high chair at a restaurant.  She loved it!  Way better than being in the car seat, I guess.
Interested in that firetruck push toy ...
Learning how to ride it.  She liked it a lot!
With her buddy, Pooh Bear.
This week, we went to Wiregrass Wednesdays at the outdoor mall near our house.  There was a lady there who plays music for kids ... she uses drums, tambourines, and chants to teach rhythm and such to the kids.  Colton loved it!  He danced and danced!  Here are a two videos of his fun time.

Okay, so Khloe has a HUGE mouth.  It takes up half of her face when she's yelling or crying ... or looking for food when you feed her.  I have never seen a mouth this big!  It doesn't look huge when it's closed or opened normally ... it's like a snake--she can unhinge it.  Ha, ha!
I call her "Big Mouth Frog".  Can you believe this!?!
I mean, she's crying in these pictures, but she does this when she eats, too!
Ha, ha!
I took some pictures of the kids together one morning this week right after they woke up ... hence the no clothes, I was getting them changed out of their jammies.  I love my kids ... they are so cute!
Always wants to read books ... even first thing in the morning!
I love these kids!  They make me smile all of the time.
I love Colton's laugh.  It's so contagious!

Looks like they are discussing the happenings of the day.
My big girl!
Such a sweet boy!
Big love between brother and sister.  Big smiles, too!
I have been working and working on the kids little table.  It's a lot harder to paint than I had anticipated.  I have the primer done ... and now I'm going to attempt to paint the top coat.  I think this is the worst part.  I just want to get into the details of the table ... soon, I guess.  I just can't wait for it to be done!  I think Colton is going to LOVE it!

We had a face-off for cars this week--several times.  Colton has a million matchbox, and the like, cars, but he doesn't want to share them with sister--naturally.  I am working with him on that.  We, also, have a TON of toys around here, but of course, Sissy only wants to play with Colton's cars.  So, since Colton only wants to play with his cars, too ... we have a problem--that can be worked out, but you try making two kids share toys!  It's a work in progress here at the Heinrich house.  Here are a few pictures of the "sharing" time with cars.  Usually, Colton will give her one (or two) cars to play with to bide him time.
She has spotted the cars. (You can see he's already given her one car in an attempt to keep her away from the basket of cars.)

She moves in.
She makes her first move.
Colton tries to pull the basket away from her.
She keeps it up ... moving along with him.  A never-ending saga that will be my life until they are grown and moved out of the house.  I think we can handle it! :)

My friend, Duska, and I went out for a girls' night this week.  I needed to find a dress for Cherrie's wedding next weekend.  She offered to help me.  So, we went to the mall sans kids, and we shopped and shopped.  I found one at White House Black Market, and I really like it.  It's a black dress, but it's different that my usual black dresses.  It's one shoulder, and I like how the style is unique to my usual draw.  I found some Nine West wedges to go with it ... and I think it worked out pretty well.  We had dinner after our shopping adventures at PF Chang's ... it was delish!  We talked and talked so much ... that we didn't leave the restaurant until 11:50 p.m.!  I can't believe we stayed there that long!  I had no idea that it had gotten so late.  I don't think either of us enjoyed how sleepy we were the next day ... especially Duska--who was at the back end of working a night shift!  Yikes! It was great to hang out with a friend ... and not have the worry of a kid crying, etc.  We probably won't stay out that late again, but it was still a good night--and one that will have to be repeated.

So, this week, Colton had some pretty good funnies.  Here's what he said:
One day, he came up to me and said, "Mommy, I want to tell you a secret in your ear."  I thought he was going to say something sweet like, "Mommy, I love you!"  So, he leans in to my ear and he says, "Mommy, I want some chocolate."  That rascal!

Another day, he was playing cars, and he was pretending they were have accidents ... crashing them and all.  At one point, one car said to the other, "Are you kidding me!?!" (I didn't even know he knew that phrase!)

On Thursday this week, I told Colton that his cousin, Madison, was having a birthday the next day.  I said, "How old do you think she will be?"  Colton answered, "ONE!" I said, "No." He said, "Two?" I said, "No." After a minute or so, he said, "Three?" I said, "Yes! And do you want to see some pictures of Maddie on Facebook?" He said, "Yeah, and Aunt Dana, too! She's a good girl!"  I said, "Who? Aunt Dana?" He replied, "Yeah, and Madison's a good girl, too."

When Colton hears Khloe whining or crying, he'll run up to her, and say, "That's okay, Baby Girl, that's okay.  Are you hungry?  Are you hungry, Khloe? Don't cry. I got you!"  I just love that!

One day last week, he told me that he had to get gas in the car and go to work.  He said, "I need to bring money and gas to the hospital."  I said, "Who do you work with?" He answered, "Uncle Brian, Uncle Mike, and Daddy!"
